Album - "New Old Songs"
At Last !! After many requests from audiences at his club performances, John Allan has put together a mix of songs he continually is asked to perform along with some new unheard releases.
The title "New Old Songs" says just that, and as you listen to the versatility of John's vocal prowess, from the haunting "Always on My Mind", to the rocky "Hold onto the Night" (written by John), back to "Seven Spanish Angels". Then his theme tune "Pretty Woman" this first album takes you on a journey that will make you feel as though you are there at one of his fun good time performances" From "Sweethearts Lounge" at SkyCity Casino Darwin, where he performed for 4.5 years to clubs in Northern NSW and Queensland. John Allan is a unique performer and a hell of a nice bloke
Review Capital Country News December 2008.
JOHN ALLAN's album "New Old Songs" is a nice surprise package. John has a rich pleasant vocal style that is very easy to listen to, and the song selection really highlights John's diversity and versatility. The title track 'New Old Songs' begs for somebody to ‘make ‘em like they used to.' John puts on his songwriter's hat with "Hold On To The Night," a fine rocky number that will get the audience dancing. "And So It Goes" reminds us of what's really important. "If I Had Any Pride Left At All" is a sad heartbreaker. Classic covers "Seven Spanish Angels", "Always On My Mind", "Pretty Woman" and "Sweet Caroline"vie with modern classics such as "When You Say Nothing At All" and "Talk Of The Town". New songs and old songs; this album honours both.
